The work is a day of Future Takeover at CCA Derry~Londonderry, on the 13th May 2020, responding to the gallery’s own tweets. CCA’s public programme has introduced ‘Books vs Cigarettes’ into an online dissemination of reading group material, a line a day, since the pandemic lockdown, featuring E.M. Foster’s The Machine Stops. Intertext has interacted with this new, parataxis-ised, form of fictional novel reading with extracts of other science fictions writers by Isaac Asimov and H.P. Lovecraft etc., as well as Daniel Chandler and Ray Kurzweil, the modern theorists on media and computer, intending to accentuate the change of texture of the literature.
