Immram is a literary genre in Medieval Irish tales, referring to supernatural voyage to the Otherworld. This video work was created in the seaside town of Portstewart, Northern Ireland. In the world of pottery throwing, the orientations of the potter’s wheel in the East and the West are opposite from each other. This video captures the first time when a pair of Eastern hands confronts the Western wheel. It is an interface where the (internal) self and identity clash with the (external) microcosm of the wheel. Reworking on the video recording of such experience enables recreating a new space-time reflecting what the fusion of flow and resistance can mean.
